I was at the show in Mountain View, CA, and I must say it was a great show. I thought you played very well - your stage demeanour is generous and fun yet totally "on" - a very nice foil for Squire's more flamboyant stage presence. (like that green jacket was the colour of a Stewarts Key Lime soda pop) The keytar solo work you did was great fun. Made me laugh in a good way. I thought Steve's guitar work was stellar - some of the places he went were really grand, and I'm not even that "into" guitars. Although, his slide work in And You And I kind of had me lost. The crowd at the Shoreline was totally awesome - vocal and proud to be there. Overall, really great stuff. Also, the singer scared the crap out of me.
***He sounded just like Jon Anderson*** as in "preternaturally so". As in "close my eyes and it's anderson" uncanny weird. Which makes him automatically awesome and very cool in my book.

Hi Geoff

will miss your insight when your blogs finnished, its been wonderfully entertaining reading your views on music and the world (miserable gits,us? really?),however bonkers right wing they maybe.
However,Fly From Here is magnificent,i took in a Yes show at Newcastle city hall a few years back with Benoit and Oliver in the band, and to be honest,i left that gig thinking that was the last time i would probably see the band, not that it was so bad, just it seemed Yes where becoming their own tribute band. But the freshness and performances on the new album (yours included)have reinvigorated my love for the band and hope upon hopes that this will continue going forward.

ps,where most of your sounds vst or synth orientated on the album?

Geoff,

Thank you for sharing your tour experiences, and general insights with this blog. I have enjoyed this exclusive look into the tour through your view, been stirred to further thought on current events, and laughed aloud at your wit.

I have seen ASIA in concert five times since 2008. All but one show involved an average travel distance of 400 miles. I have participated in many meet-greets, and let me share that I totally understand your previous commentary about the necessity of being required to keep a tight schedule. Despite this, you always fully extended yourself to the fans, and graciously went out of your way to make the experience wonderful. I truly appreciate this.

Objective honesty; the new music is wonderful. The critics are hung up on the past, take themselves too seriously, and need to relax. Simply push "play", turn it up, and enjoy the ride. I find myself returning to enjoy the new music, and that is the truest verdict.

Further objective honesty; ...regarding live performances. I saw YES live in 2009, and have already mentioned my many travels with ASIA. The live shows have been wonderful; period. The love of the music, and the effort applied, the commitment, it is all evident. The live shows have been an energetic, operatic (dare I say organic) experience. Your work on the keys manages to tow the fine line of never being lost in the music, while never overpowering it. It is a necessary thread. Your contribution is an essential ingredient to the "new brew".

Thank you for everything.

"Ride Easy" my friend.

Yo Geoff.. Hope you are recuperating from the tour..and enjoying well deserved down time...I don't know how future tour booking engagements for YES work ...whether 6months or 2 yrs into the future...however I feel YES would be great as a stand alone concert at the well respected Vancouver Island MusicFest (Comox, BC, Canada) next year....on July 7th this year Alison Krauss and Union Station did just that..it was superb! I was there, and to have YES doing a gig there next year would be penultimate! Just an idea...I'm sure the band would enjoy the laid back natural outdoor venue...imho...outdoor concerts are superior to indoor..no echo problems..just pure sound radiating outwards (the VIMF had an excellent, clean audience sound system)...Perhaps YES management can at least consider this...Mr Jon Anderson performed 3 times at various stages during the venue, and David Crosby,Randy Newman among many others too... Please, please pass this on to those in control of YES's destiny...I just can't stop listening to "Fly From Here" Well done! Cheers Geoff!Perhaps I'm out of line here with my suggestions and this will not be posted, but you are my only conduit...nothing ventured..nothing gained! Thank You for everything you do anyways...Sincerely Rikki

Thanks for taking the time to keep us all in the loop, Geoff! I was at the Shoreline show and it was fantastic! I've been to a fair number of Yes shows, covering a wide range of lineups (including Union - what a full stage!), and this one is right up there. We were directly in front of the sound booth, so perhaps that had an impact, but I thought everything sounded great, with the possible exception that we thought the bass was a little quiet. No trouble at all hearing the keys.

Hope to see y'all again soon, and for a proper show where you can dig deeper into the catalog. Next time come to Phoenix, though, will ya? I had to time a business trip so I could be in San Jose for this show :)

thanks for the blogs Geoff. I had fun reading them. Soooooo glad it was not all just daily stuff riding the bus, or later the planes. Saw you at Shoreline. it truly is a great place to see bands play. YES has performed there many times, and I've been there every time. The ABWH video was recorded there.
Thought the band sounded great. Have been a YES fan since the CTTE tour, and have never missed one since. Hope the band comes back one more time to the home of Silicon Valley. Would surely love to see more of FFH performed live. From my seat, nothing wrong with the sound mix. Everyone came through just fine, including keyboards. In fact, your KEYTAR on Roundabout was awesome! LOL. Yes, I know it was not Roundabout but Starship Trooper. Just proving I have read your blog from the beginning! Another shameless attempt to win that autographed CD. Can't blame a guy fpr trying. Enjoy your short time off before ya hit the road again in Europe. Be well and rock on!
